William Wayne Stepp
The above author was a N.W. Missouri farmer by age six on his father's farm. While earning money for his B.S. degree in Agronomy and Animal Husbandry at lowa State he was a Forest Ranger at age 19 in a National Forest near Bend, Oregon, a CCC Camp Foreman at age 20 in lowa and a Citrus Picking Crew Foreman at age 21 near Ventura, CA.
He was a graduate of Iowa State University by age 21 and then a Pvt., Pvt. 1st Class, C Sgt., 2nd Lt. and 1st Lt. in the Med. Admin. and Sanitary Corps of the US Army in WWII. This earned a G.l. Bill paid for degree in Business Management following the war.
He has been a 30,000 acre Kansas Ranch Foreman and a Missouri Farm owner as well present day Missouri farm owner.
He has been a Salesman, Territory Sales Manager, Regional Sales Manager and finally Sales Manager of two ten state Agri. Industry Corporations each with nearly 6,000 salesmen, half of them parttime.
At age 51 he took a double Masters Degree in Education both secondary (for teaching) and Public Health (for admin.), followed by sixteen years as Director of Public Health and Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the City of Independence, MO population 118,000. During this period he cofounded the Independence Community Mental Health Center and served many years as President of the Board of that agency now with a budget of nearly ten million annually.
Prior to, and during, retirement he was and is a poet, short story writer, gardener, horticulturist and community volunteer in general. And now a genealogical researcher and author. (I hope! - WWS)
